Pão de Queijo
Brazilian cheese bread, the way it's meant to taste.
The story
What is pão de queijo?
Pão de queijo is a traditional Brazilian cheese bread made from tapioca starch, eggs, oil, and cheese. It has been a staple of Brazilian breakfast culture for generations — warm, golden, and slightly chewy on the inside.
Unlike ordinary bread, pão de queijo contains no wheat flour whatsoever, making it naturally and completely gluten-free. The texture is unique: a thin crisp shell gives way to a soft, elastic, cheese-flavoured centre that is unlike anything else in European baking.
Cecilia's recipe uses a blend of cheeses — traditional queijo Minas and parmesan — for a flavour that is rich without being heavy. Each ball is rolled by hand and baked fresh on the day of your order.
